Department of Economics of this college established in the year 1958 is committed to impart quality based education to the students of the region. The department also provides latest information and knowledge to its student to make their better citizens and to meet both national and global problems, not only in the field of economics but in all walks of life. Our objective is to generate talents of high profile through various academic programmes to serve the corporate world and government.

Growth of department: 

In the last 58 years department achieved their goals and continuously try to give their best, step by step growth of department is as under:-

      Introduce of Post graduate courses in the year 1968.

b.  Adoption of autonomous course in PG in the year 1992.

c.  Establish as research center in 2003.

d.  Adoption of autonomous course in UG in the year 2007.

e.  Introduce semester system in PG courses in the year 2007.

f.   Faculty registered as PhD. guide in the year 2013-14.

Since 1958 department reached from very few students to more than 250 students. Department committed to provide employment and quality based education to students. And give best product to the stakeholders of the department.

1.   Advance learning and knowledge by teaching and research and by extension programs so as to enable a student to obtain advantages a world economic education.

3.  Promote in the students and teachers an awareness and understanding of the social needs of the country and prepare them for fulfilling such needs.

4.  Take appropriate measures for promoting inter-disciplinary studies  the departments.

5. Foster the composite culture of India and establish such departments as may be required for the study and development of the languages, arts,economy and culture of India.

Department organized survey work with sarv shiksha abhiyan, durg in 50 schools of durg region. The project was “Anudan Rashi ka survey (swatantr mulyankan kary) on09.02.2013.

06.   Awareness programme- 

An awareness programme conducted by the PG students of our department for Rural area School students of gram- godi dist.- Durg. The purpose of this programme was aware to students to various Plans  of central and state governments for the Rural area school students on 25.11.2013.

07.   Research oriented Economic Survey- 

The PG students of our department done survey on “Uchcha Siksha kajeevan star par prabhav”

08.   Computer literacy workshop - 

The Department organized a 06 days workshop programme specially for PG students to develop their computer skills and knowledge (from  07.10.2015 to 13.10.2015)

09.   10 Days Workshop on Self-Employment  Opportunities-

The Department of History organized 10 days workshop programme for the  students. In this workshop PG students of our department active participated and got various Ideas, Govt. plan, Loan and funding procedure for self employment.

10.   Teacher Knowledge Enrichment Programme  -

The Department organize knowledge enrichment programme for their faculty. In this programme lecture delivered by prof. pendse, and Dr. Chaoubey from Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur.
