The English Language Lab has opened a unique way toteach English to students. In this method the students listen to experts fromvarious countries talk about their culture.
The programthat runs for one and half hours and involves the following steps.
First, after the initial welcoming of all by thecoordinator Dr Somali Gupta, one of the students introduces the guest to therest of the participants and welcomes the guest on behalf of the college andthe participants. Then the guest shares about his/her culture for around 40 -45mins. The session is then opened for Q&A session for 20 mins. After that asa mark of respect, 2 students present 2 different aspects of Indian Culture tothe Guest. Finally,one student offers the Vote of thanks.
Other activities like making Flyers, participating ina Quiz based on the lectures they have heard, making Presentations, preparingand Reading out the Introduction and offering the Vote of thanks further helpsthem to improve their language skills. The students were practicing all thefour skills Reading Writing Speaking and Listening in English and more throughthese activities. Thus, through various activities they used thedifferent levels of human cognition—i.e., thinking, learning, and understanding.
The students have also participated in webinarsorganized by other countries thus building their general knowledge and gainingconfidence by actively participating in them. Each activity was designed todevelop a particular competence in the students.

The students have also participated in webinarsorganized by “Enjoy Reading” a voluntary reading group from Indonesia.
There are 61 active participants in the program andexperts from 14 countries have addressed the students for far.
The program started on 19th Jan 2021 withthe following 14speakersdifferent countries.
The program was inaugurated by Dr. PrashantShrivastava, Dean, Student’s Welfare, Hemchand Yadav University, Durg, C.G. on19th January 2021.
