Health Awareness Program – Department of Biotechnology

The Department of Biotechnology organized a Health Awareness Program on 30 October 2025, focusing on sickle cell anemia screening, blood group testing, and promoting awareness about hemoglobinopathies.

A total of 60 community members participated in the camp. The event was conducted by a dedicated team of 10 students, 3 faculty members, and 2 research scholars, ensuring smooth screening and effective community interaction.

The screening included blood group determination, sickle cell slide tests, proper documentation, and counseling on genetic disorders and early diagnosis. Four individuals tested positive for sickle cell anemia and were guided toward further medical consultation.

The initiative strengthened public health awareness and showcased the department’s commitment to experiential learning and community service. The Department of Biotechnology plans to continue such outreach programs to support community well-being and collaborative engagement.
